This book was very disappointing. It tells you to "be James Bond" by providing cursory chapters on how to play poker, how to ski, how to fly an airplane, how to bungee jump, etc. Never mind that you can't learn to fly an airplane from 25 pages in a paperback, or ski, or ride a horse, the author totally misses the point.
This book should not be about the technicalities of whatever discipline you choose to undertake, it should about the attitude, the class, and the strength of will that "Being James Bond" involves. Skip this one.

I thought this would be an interesting compliment to the movies and books in the bond series... I was wrong. This book covers a VERY limited amount of topics that have little to do with the Bond franchise. An entire chapter is devoted to the different types of liquors. While that is mildly interesting, the writer does not tie it in to Bond at all.
The other chapters are on flying an airplane, horseback riding, and skiing. It is like the author went on Google and looked up a how-to guide for these things and just copied and pasted it into the book.
If you want to read about Bond, get something else. If you want some cursory knowledge of liquor, airplanes, horses, or skiing, you should still find something else.
I may recommend this book if it was 1/3 of the price it is being sold for now and the title was changed to something else.
"Being James Bond" is so much more than a "how-to" book. It's a treasure trove of Bond trivia, candid memoirs, and really great pointers you can actually implement in your life! Clearly, Joseph Darlington is a genuine James Bond aficionado, but he's also an excellent coach who will inspire and guide you along the way. =)

It really inspires you to embrace the inner confident person in you. It teaches you a lot about everyday things that not many people may really know how to do.
Life us sometimes full of distractions, some good and some bad, but I have to say that the Being James Bond book by Joseph Darling reminds me of the things that always made me truly happy as a man as well as a lifelong fan of James Bond. As he says "if Bond can do it you can too.." he is right. From horseback riding to bungee jumping his book is also a form of inspirational reading. Since following his board BeingJames Bond.com I have been more active in making all those hobbies I have postponed become a priority, as a wholistic life change. BJB may not be for everyone, but those who seek a new way to reinvigorate their life's passions this is the way to go!
